The new ambulance station was designed by Trenchard Smith and Maisey, the firm that also designed Manly Town Hall, and the contract with Eastman and Sons, of Rose Bay to build it was signed in September 1935.
The new station was officially opened in January 1936 by State Premier Bertram Stevens.

The ambulance station remained in service for 50 years but by the 1980s was considered inadequate for the task.
In 1986, the ambulance service was moved to temporary premises in Harbord Rd, Brookvale, while a suitable site was sought for a permanent home.
Eventually a site at the intersection of Condamine St and Balgowlah Rd, Balgowlah, formerly occupied by a service station and known as Courtesy Corner was selected and a new station was built. The old Raglan St ambulance station was sold in 1989 and is now home to Manly Backpackers.
